Here are some of the longest, tallest, widest, smallest and highest facts about New York that the state has:

1. New York has the longest toll road in the USA - Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway. It runs up to 641 miles.

2. Oneida has the world’s smallest church – Cross Island Chapel. It is right in the center of a small pond and can accommodate three people at the most.

3. Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk, Long Island is the first ever ranch to be established in the whole of the United States. It was established 265 years ago in 1747.

4. The highest waterfall in the state is Taughannock Falls which is in Taughannock State Park. The drop of Taughannock Falls is 215 feet high.

5. Apart from having the smallest church, Oneida also has the largest lake in the state. The lake covers 79.8 square miles of area.

6. New York was host to the longest baseball game ever played in the history of the game. It happened on 18th of April, 1981 at a Rochester Red Wings vs. Pawtucket Red Sox game that play was suspended. The game continued later after more than two months resulting in a win for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

New York has many firsts. Here are some of the “firsts, facts about New York”, that the state boasts of, in comparison to the other US states.

1. New York played host to the first chess tournament in USA way back in 1843.

2. 3D films had their first audience here in New York at Aston Theatre, in 1915.

3. The first ever pizza outlet in the US was opened in New York by Gennaro Lombardi, an Italian immigrant who started it in 1895.

4. New York was the first state in the country to make a law for every vehicle to have license plates in the US.

5. The Niagara Falls State Park was the first wildlife reservation park in the United States.

6. Toilet paper was sold for the first time as a product in 1857 by Joseph C. Gayetty in New York. The first roll of toilet paper (500 sheets) was sold for a measly half a dollar.
